The John Ringling Mansion, also known as Ca d'Zan, is a 36,000 sq ft Venetian Gothic Revival mansion built between 1924 and 1926 by circus magnate John Ringling and his wife, Mable Burton Ringling.

Opened in 1958, the conception of the Charles A. Dana Library was an expansion effort to support the growing needs of the law school. Starting at a capacity of 100 students and 70,000 volumes, it too was expanded to later support 275 students and 160,000 volumes by 1973.
